What About The Negative Icynene Reviews?

Due to spray foam insulation being such an upcoming method of insulation, there have been quite a few misconceptions about the effectiveness and dangers of its use. The most common problem that occur around the use of Icynene is the belief that it can have a negative effect on the roof of the loft; causing the timbers to rot.

Since Icynene LD-C-50 is a 100% open cell, when applied to a surface it allows any moisture present to dry out through evaporation, this is important as timber and masonry surfaces need to breathe to ensure that no damp or rot problems are caused. In addition to the potential health hazards that come with the use of spray foam insulation. Icynene spray foam is 100% water-blown, making it eco-friendly and harmless to the body.

Most of all, we are aware that Icynene® insulation costs have only taken the UK by storm in the past several years, therefore, questions are still being asked about the pros and cons of this manufacturer of spray foam insulation. Up to this day, questions are still being asked about the use of spray foam insulation overall.

FAQ

Will Icynene Spray Foam Insulation Rot My Timbers?

No. Our open cell foam is breathable, when applied to any surface it allows any moisture present to dry out through evaporation, this is important as timber and masonry surfaces need to breathe to ensure that no damp or rot problems are caused. Whereas a lot of the horror stories come from polyurethane closed cell foam, which is more suitable when moisture breathe-ability is not a requirement such as on metal. However, if your timbers are already damp or have some form of rot or woodworm they should be treated and dried first.

Is Icynene safe from bacterial and fungal growth?

A. The insulation does not have food or organic value; therefore it isn’t a suitable environment for pests and bacteria. Icynene is a superior insulation system against mould, with an excellent protection factor compared to fibreglass and cellulose. Additionally, rodents and pests will stay away.

How long does It take to install?

A. The foam expands 100 times in 4-12 seconds after being applied. With proper ventilation, you can use the room 24 hours or less after installing. As a result of it being a water blown product, there will be no unusual smells remained after installation. The majority of homeowners installs can be completed within a day, whereas bigger projects such as commercial installs can take longer. Consequently, your insulation member of our team can give you an accurate representation of what time-scales you can expect.
